MDI — AI Visibility Report

MDI holds the #2 visibility position in its tracked category at 17.39%, trailing only T.H.E.M. (31.88%) and outperforming every other competitor, including higher-authority ORBIS Corporation. But that share is highly concentrated: five prompts — private-label supply, general kitting and assembly, Minnesota contract manufacturing, tote manufacturing, and high-volume container handling — generate nearly all of MDI's visibility, while nine of eighteen tracked prompts, covering the entire medical device, compliance, and social-enterprise sourcing cluster, return zero MDI presence. This is the single largest and most addressable gap in the account: those prompts aren't being won by competitors either, they're being answered by regulatory reference domains (fda.gov, iso.org) instead of any vendor at all, meaning the door is open for whoever builds dedicated, AI-crawlable content there first. Separately, mdi.org is already the third most-retrieved domain in the whole competitive set, proving MDI's content is being pulled into AI answers at meaningful volume — the gap is in citation consistency, not retrieval, and is concentrated on exactly two pages (/plastics/totes and /services/kitting-assembly) that are doing nearly all of the work. The highest-leverage move outside MDI's own site is Thomasnet: it's the single most-retrieved domain in the category by a wide margin, ahead of every competitor's own domain, so a fully built-out, current Thomasnet listing is likely to move visibility faster than any additional backlink or content investment.
